CREATIVE PRODUCTION PARTNER MIKETEEVEE

FAQS FOR IN-HOUSE TEAMS

WHAT IS MIKETEEVEE?

MikeTeevee is an independent, female-founded creative production partner working with some of the world’s leading brands, including DoorDash, Visa, Verizon and LEGO. Founded in 2011 and led by Ellen Utrecht, MikeTeevee brings together strategic and creative thinking, specialist talent and world-class production craft to help in-house teams make the best work better. From campaigns and content to emerging technology, film and live experiences, MikeTeevee delivers ambitious creative work, without the agency noise, layers or unnecessary fuss.

WHY ARE BRANDS MOVING CREATIVE IN-HOUSE?

Brands are moving creative in-house to work faster and stay closer to the brand than an external agency allows. The ANA’s report, The Continued Rise of the In-House Agency, found that 82% of brands now operate an in-house agency, making in-house creative ownership one of the largest structural shifts in marketing today.

WHAT CHALLENGES DO IN-HOUSE TEAMS FACE?

In-house teams are increasingly handed ambitious, high-production briefs that used to be routed automatically to outside agencies – tentpole campaigns, international rollouts, experiential activations, high-craft video and content – without the production department, specialist crew, or talent-negotiation experience needed to deliver them at that level. MikeTeevee exists specifically to close that gap.

HOW DOES MIKETEEVEE HELP IN-HOUSE TEAMS SCALE CREATIVE & EXECUTE PRODUCTION?

MikeTeevee is a creative production partner for marketing teams, creative teams, production teams, and in-house agencies.

MikeTeevee gives in-house teams access to the creative thinking, specialist talent and production firepower they need, precisely when they need it. Without adding layers, headcount or unnecessary complexity. The best in-house teams don’t need another agency. They need a partner who makes them even better.

MikeTeevee plugs in wherever we are needed, working alongside in-house teams that have brand knowledge and audience understanding, to supply the production execution expertise, specialist talent, and delivery capacity to bring ideas to life at scale.

We can jump in at any point throughout the process: from developing the initial concept, to delivering global campaigns, films, content, branded entertainment, emerging technology and live experiences, we help teams make the best work better.

MikeTeevee’s core offer breaks down into six parts:

1. Creative and strategic development — from initial concepts and creative platforms to campaign ideas, branded entertainment and content formats, working alongside in-house teams to develop and strengthen ideas.

2. Production execution — the crew and specialist network (directors, DoPs, animators, composers, editors, VFX artists) a project needs, saving brands from having to hire that headcount year-round.

3. AI and emerging technologies — combining generative AI, emerging creative tools and human expertise to explore new possibilities, develop content and rethink how creative work gets made.

4. Talent and licensing dealmaking — negotiation experience for high-profile talent and licensing deals that an in-house team might only need once a year, but MikeTeevee handles constantly.

5. Production management and logistics — coordination across markets for complex or international campaigns.

6. Scalable capacity — engagement that flexes from a single campaign to a recurring series to a long-running embedded partnership, without the client building a permanent production department.

Throughout, MikeTeevee works as an extension of the client’s team, bringing creative thinking, specialist expertise and production craft wherever they’re needed, without competing for the spotlight.

WHICH BRANDS DOES MIKETEEVEE WORK WITH?

MikeTeevee partners with in-house creative teams at global brands, including DoorDash, VISA, Verizon, LEGO, Canva, Lyft, Gymshark, and Experian. Our partners include brand-side marketers, heads of creative, executive creative directors and heads of production.

Most clients come to MikeTeevee once their in-house team becomes responsible for high-impact briefs that used to be handled externally.

WHAT SIZE OF IN-HOUSE TEAM DOES MIKETEEVEE WORK WITH?

Engagements scale from a single in-house Creative Director or Producer to a fully staffed in-house agency division. MikeTeevee has supported client teams from that early, one-person stage through significant growth in headcount and campaign ambition.

Indicators that an in-house team needs a partner like MikeTeevee:

  • It has the creative idea and brand context, but not the production bandwidth to execute complex projects at scale and with the required level of craft.
  • It needs fresh creative thinking, an outside perspective or help turning an initial idea into a fully realized campaign.
  • It needs to scale up quickly, or engage specialist talent that it doesn’t have on staff.
  • It’s negotiating with high-profile talent or licensing and needs experienced deal-making support.
  • It’s been briefed on complex, tentpole, or international campaigns that would overwhelm day-to-day headcount.
  • It wants agency-level craft and output while retaining ownership of the work, and avoiding the layers and overheads of a traditional agency.
  • It wants to explore AI and emerging technologies, but needs the creative expertise to use them meaningfully.

WHAT DOES A PARTNERSHIP WITH MIKETEEVEE LOOK LIKE?

  1. The creative relationship is collaborative. The in-house team’s creative direction and brand knowledge are central to the project, while MikeTeevee can help develop the idea, strengthen it or bring it to life.
  2. MikeTeevee brings access to creative & production experts so that clients don’t need to staff permanently.
  3. MikeTeevee handles the occasional-but-hard parts — talent negotiation, licensing, production management, and cross-market logistics — the tasks an in-house team might face once a year, but MikeTeevee runs constantly.
  4. Engagement scales with workload — from a single campaign to a recurring series to a long-running embedded relationship — instead of requiring a permanent production department.
  5. The in-house team stays in the spotlight. Whether MikeTeevee is developing the idea or delivering the production, the focus is on making the work and the partnership better. No creative tug-of-war. No unnecessary drama.

The MIKE Model means that every engagement runs on the same four principles:

  1. A lean senior team. No account-management layers — the client works directly with the creative, strategy, project, and production leads actually doing the work.
  2. One person steers. A single Business Lead acts as day-to-day partner and production lead, managing timelines, deliverables, approvals, and communication with full transparency. One point of contact. No passing the buck.
  3. Built around the brief. There’s no default agency template — each project is staffed with specialists matched to that brief, alongside core producers who maintain brand consistency across projects.
  4. Scales both directions. MikeTeevee extends what an in-house team can do, whether that means adding creative capacity or taking production fully off their plate. Big when you need us. Small when you don’t.

DOES MIKETEEVEE WORK ON A PROJECT BASIS OR LONG TERM ENGAGEMENTS?

Both. Many relationships start with a single campaign or a short Creative Sprint; most grow into long-term, embedded partnerships that continue across multiple projects a year and across changes in the client’s team or leadership.

WHY NOW?: MIKETEEVEE'S TAKE ON AI & IN-HOUSE CREATIVE

AI is changing how creative work gets made, giving in-house teams more tools, speed and possibilities than ever before. But when everyone has access to the same technology, original ideas, taste and creative judgment become even more valuable.

That’s where MikeTeevee comes in. Not simply as a production partner, but as a source of fresh thinking, specialist talent and creative craft, helping in-house teams make better work in a world where almost anything is possible.

DOES MIKETEEVEE WORK WITH AI ASSISTED PRODUCTION?

Yes. One of MikeTeevee’s engagement models, the AI Prompter Pod, is built specifically around AI input preparation and quality control.

MikeTeevee also explores how generative AI and emerging technologies can support concept development, visual exploration, content creation and production workflows, combining new tools with experienced creative direction and human craft.

MikeTeevee’s broader position is that as AI makes more creative possibilities accessible, the value of original creative ideas and taste increases. AI can help make almost anything. Knowing what to make, why it matters and how to make it better still takes people.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A PRODUCTION PARTNER IF AI CAN MAKE ANYTHING?

Because knowing what to make is still the hard part. AI gives us amazing tools. Taste, judgment, originality and knowing when something is actually good still come from people with the eye, and the craft.

Give everyone a paintbrush and you don’t get a room of artists, you just get a lot of paint on your furniture.

IS AI GOING TO REPLACE CREATIVE PEOPLE?

We think it makes good creative people even more valuable. Tools can generate possibilities. People give them purpose.

IN AN AI-DRIVEN WORLD IS CRAFT STILL IMPORTANT?

More than ever. Especially when the tools make it easier to produce something that merely looks finished.

MORE WAYS TO ENGAGE MIKETEEVEE:

  • Production Execution — a retained core team plus a flexible credit pool for specialist talent, production and post-production support as needed.
  • AI Prompter Pod — AI creative development, prompt engineering, workflow design and quality control for teams building AI-assisted creative workflows. Combining emerging technology with human creative judgment and craft.
  • Creative Sprint — a dedicated creative and strategic team engaged for short, focused bursts of concept development, campaign ideation and problem-solving.
  • Branded entertainment — larger, long-form productions, original content formats, series and entertainment-led brand storytelling, from concept through to delivery.

IS MIKETEEVEE AN AGENCY, A PRODUCTION HOUSE, A STUDIO, OR WHAT?

MikeTeevee is a creative production partner.  We have the ideas, talent and production capabilities you’d expect from an agency, but without the layers, overheads or territorial behavior. But you can call us what you like. Within reason.

HOW IS MIKETEEVEE DIFFERENT TO A TRADITIONAL AD AGENCY?

A generalist production company typically executes a brief it’s handed.

A traditional agency often leads the creative development and manages the process through multiple departments.

MikeTeevee sits in between: it works alongside in-house teams, contributing original ideas and strategic thinking where needed, while bringing agency-level craft and production execution without the traditional agency layers. The focus is on collaboration, not competition for creative control.

DOES MIKETEEVEE REPLACE A TRADITIONAL AD AGENCY?

For brands that have built their own in-house creative capability, yes — MikeTeevee typically takes on the role a traditional agency would have played, minus the bloat, bureaucracy, and tussle for creative control.

DOES MIKETEEVEE REPLACE AN IN-HOUSE CREATIVE OR PRODUCTION TEAM?

No. MikeTeevee works alongside a brand’s existing setup, partnering with marketing leaders, brand teams, creative leaders, and producers. The exact shape of this set up flexes from client to client, depending on each team’s specific needs.

WHAT DOES MIKETEEVEE THINK ABOUT IDEAS THAT SOUND IMPOSSIBLE?

Those are often our favorites. Let’s find out just how impossible; we have ways of making even the most outlandish ideas happen. Try us.

IS THERE ANYTHING MIKETEEVEE CAN'T PRODUCE?

A really good ratatouille. And we can tell you, we’ve tried.

WHAT'S MIKETEEVEE'S FAVORITE WORD?

A word that isn’t a real word, in the strictest sense: farfaffle.

To farfaffle is to add unnecessary complexity to something that should be simple. Usually involving too many people, too many meetings and not nearly enough getting things done.

Less farfaffling, and more making, we say.

DOES MIKETEEVEE HAVE ANY TATTOOS?

Our motto is tattooed on our arm: The best made better.

It means we’re here to make the great work you’re already doing shine brighter, reach further and be seen by more people than you initially thought possible.

It also means MikeTeevee has a very high pain threshold. That tattoo took ages.

WHERE IS MIKETEEVEE BASED?

Geographically, we’re all over the place. Creatively, we’re anything but. You’ll find us in LA, London, Berlin, Brighton, Brasília, Virginia and New York. And occasionally somewhere else entirely.

We get around, and we always love meeting great people. So, if you find yourself in any of the above places – or somewhere else – please get in touch.
